Mike Thezier

ISSA-Certified Personal TrainerFAA Part 107 Licensed

My name is Mike Thezier (pronounced: tee-zee-ey) - my last name looks nothing like it sounds. I was born and raised in California and my life has taken me to places all over the world - especially France since half of my family live there. I really enjoy experiencing different cultures and places. My wife, Janna, is incredible and she just simply makes me better. We have three amazing children: Our oldest, Jameson, who is so intelligent and creative; Our middle child, Calvin, who is free-spirited and imaginative; And our beautiful and sweet baby girl Amelia - she’ll never do anything wrong.

I love the outdoors. If there’s any environment I prefer to be in, it would be anyplace with lots of trees, mountains, and hills. Janna and I have a love for traveling (both to new and familiar places) that we are excited to foster in our kids as they grow up. And I am a big coffee drinker (my wife is a coffee roaster, so I’m pretty spoiled).

I'm based in Temecula, California, and most of my work happens between here, San Diego and Orange County — gyms, trailheads, gymnasiums and coastline, wherever the training actually happens. I'll travel further when a project asks for it.

I'm also an ISSA-certified personal trainer. That's part of why I shoot the way I do — I know what a good rep looks like, so I can catch the moment without asking anyone to hold a pose that breaks their form. It's also where Progress Sessions came from: I know what months of consistent work actually look like, and I think that's worth photographing. And I'm FAA Part 107 licensed, so aerial is on the table when a location earns it.

It's my goal to make photographs that tell your story. No matter what shoot I do, I always want to create work that is genuine and compelling.

Thank you for visiting my website and if you'd like to know more about me and my work, please send me a message and let's start talking!

Fun Facts

Film frames from a shoot

I often shoot film (35mm and medium format) during photo shoots.

My go-to’s are my Canon 1V and Mamiya 645AFDII.

Portra 160 and Portra 400 are my favorite film stocks.

Coffee roasting and the trailer

My wife and I also run a coffee business. Currently we roast out of our home kitchen and setup a coffee trailer during the week.
